In the end, whether you play one, two, or all three, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II is as engaging and energetic as the best games in this long-running series. Thankfully, things are better in the campaign, which starts slow but gets better when you have to be sneaky while swimming, when you take out a caravan of trucks from a low-flying helicopter, and when you find yourself in occupied territory without weapons. Whether it's "Knock Out," in which teams try to hold onto a bags of money, or "Prisoner Rescue," in which teams fight to rescue or hold onto a hostage, both can be won by eliminating the enemy team, which effectively turns them into "Team Deathmatch." As for "Spec Ops," while its missions are varied enough that you'll want to play them multiple times, there's only three of them, which seems like two too few. For instance, while multiplayer is as fun as it always, the new modes don't always maintain their individuality. And lastly there's, "Spec Ops," elaborate co-op missions in which two players work together to save the day.Īs exciting as all three modes may be, though, they're not without their issues. With multiplayer, the compelling competition is as solid as ever, with many familiar modes being joined by a couple new ones, and a new perspective. That's why you get into a series of frantic fire fights in some unusual conditions. In the action movie-esque story-driven campaign, players try to stop a terrorist who's not afraid to use American-made weapons, or the assistance of a drug cartel, to get revenge on the U.S. Like them, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II is really three games in one. This should be hugely exciting for any Call of Duty fans, and the only request we have from a sequel is improved map design and perhaps a slightly less strict SBMM system.Though it has some problems, this first-person shooter is as exciting as, well, previous entries in this series. Infinity Ward did such a fantastic job with Modern Warfare that, even without further upgrades to the IW8 engine, a Modern Warfare II would be hard for them to 'get wrong'. It seems most players gravitate towards the mil-sim side of the spectrum, as opposed to the jet pack or grim WW2 shooter vibe.Įven if or TheGhostOfHope were unknown – which they're not, they actually have a long history of being proven right on Call of Duty leaks – the claim here is very believable, and so we're confidant about this leak. That's not hugely surprising – Infinity Ward are performing a lot stronger than Treyarch or Sledgehammer right now. Experience the new era of Call of Duty® Multiplayer in Modern Warfare® II Season 2, with the return of signature multiplayer game modes and the introduction of never before seen multiplayer game modes. This doesn't speak to bugs or any issues developers might run into but purely that it is months ahead of schedule.- Hope April 5, 2022 We've never had a Call of Duty as far ahead of schedule as Modern Warfare II. TheGhostOfHope also confirmed such rumors just lately: Should be in a good state once it's time to release.- MW2 OG August 7, 2021 Got a little info on MW II today, apparently Infinity award are feeling very good about the game, development is farther ahead than projected w/ still over a year to finish In fact (and I can't believe I'm saying this about a Call of Duty game), it's actually way ahead of schedule. Well, according to Modern Warfare II is well on its way to be every bit as successful as 2019's Modern Warfare. How Is Modern Warfare II's Development Going?
